Choral Concert by Marywood Chamber Singers
Here at the Catehdral of Saint Patrick
A touring choir with about 27 singers will be here the Cathedral, and the program will be entirely a cappella. It will feature music by Palestrina, Samuel Barber, and Wolfram Buchenberg, as well as folk songs and spirituals arranged by Howard Helvey, Stacey V. Gibbs, and Moses Hogan.
The Marywood University Chamber Singers are a select ensemble of undergraduates pursuing a variety of majors. They have performed on music series throughout the Northeastern United States and are featured on an annual PBS broadcast. They embark on a concert tour each May to various parts of the United States and Canada. Recent venues have included Steinway Hall and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in New Jersey, First Church and Faneuil Hall in Boston, Yale University’s Marquand Chapel, Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, and several locales in California, Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. The Marywood University Chamber Singers were finalists in the Collegiate Choral Division of The American Prize. After being the featured choir for the 2021 National Meeting of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, the ensemble was invited to be the featured choir again for the 2022 ACCU National Meeting in Washington, DC.
