Norwich Diocesan Choir
History
Founded in 1978 by Douglas Green, the Norwich Diocesan Choir is comprised of dedicated singers who come from Catholic parishes throughout the Diocese of Norwich and eastern Connecticut. Since then, the choir has sung at every major diocesan event held at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick.
In addition to its liturgical role, the choir also presents concerts of sacred music which includes the Festival of Lessons and Carols held each year and Candlelight Concert and Compline.
Membership
Membership is open to adult singers with choral experience and abilities to learn music quickly. Rehearsals are held in the choir room of the Cathedral on Sunday afternoons from 2:30PM to 4:30PM from mid-September through April. Good attendance is expected.
Unlike many community choral organizations, there are no fees associated with membership in the Norwich Diocesan Choir. Since many Diocesan Choir members are involved in the music ministry in their own parishes, rehearsals and events are never designed to conflict with parish celebrations.
